Mistake #2: Using the “They must not be my people” excuse to be spammy. I’m not a fan of this common tactic. Here’s how it works: people send a huge number of sales/promotional emails to their list with no warning and with no easy way to opt out. When people complain or unsubscribe, they put it on their subscribers (“Oh well, they aren’t my type of subscriber anyway…”), instead of taking responsibility for the spam (let’s call it what it is). What ever happened to “treat others the way you want to be treated”?
With the personal method, you’ll be promoting products that you’ve used before within your own life. This is simple, and doesn’t require a lot of research because you’re already familiar with the product. Maybe you’ve been using it for years, or this is your first time. If you like the product by the company you’re affiliate with, you can write a blog post or social media post about it, using your affiliate link. You’ll tell your audience what you like and dislike about the product and whether you would continue using it in your life. Be honest in your promotion, and tell people how you really feel about the product; if you are dishonest and promote for the sake of getting paid, you won’t be very successful, not matter how many products you promote.
The downside is sales. You actually have to make sales to get paid. So if you go out there and you’re like, “I want to get paid $27 anytime someone buys this diet book” You actually have to get people to buy it. Now in CPA affiliate marketing, this isn’t always the case. Sometimes you can get paid just for people filling out forms, download things, call a phone number, we get paid. Sometimes it’s easier “to go with CPA affiliate marketing. So that’s one of the downsides of Clickbank.
We’ll go into more details regarding each step but let me give you a quick overview of each. The product/offer is the ClickBank product you’ll be promoting. This might seem like it’s simple enough but screwing up this step could potentially hinder you from earning a single cent because the other steps are built on top of it. Product research has its own separate section below.
A best practice is to use a URL shortener to shorten links. Otherwise, links might appear unnecessarily long, unappealing, complicated, and spammy. A word to a few words should precede your link for context. For example, “I use Grammarly to check my grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Install their browser app for free: ow.ly/VWwi3055f25” “Install their browser app for free” is a call-to-action. A call-to-action (CTA) consists of words that urge an individual to take a specific action, for example, buy now, learn more, and click here. Use CTAs in your descriptions to get people clicking.
The beauty guru's are not to be left out, you too can cash in with the Sigma Beauty Affiliate Program. All you need to do is sign up with the sigma beauty affiliates program, receive your affiliate code and read through their instructions for how to maximize your income through their program. Sigma prefers that you include the links in your about section and youtube video descriptions as well as mentioning each brush that you use by name, so the audience know which link to click. How much you receive is dependent on what kind of marketing you do and how heavy you sell the products.
Watch them. How are other content creators in your niche utilizing advertising? What types of ads do they use? What are they promoting? What do they talk about repeatedly (if you keep seeing the same affiliate product show up again and again, there’s a good chance they’re making good money from it)? If you see a product or service they talk about that jogs your memory and you can ethically promote it too, find affiliate information by the methods described above.
With the familiar method, you’ll be promoting using an established form of communication such as a blog or website. You’ll write an article or blog post about a product and include your affiliate link within that article. In many cases you won’t have tried the product you’re promoting yourself, so this method requires some research to be able to inform your audience about the product and its up- and down-sides. Again, having a reputation with your readers as an honest blog will help them to trust your judgement when you’re recommending products to them, so get to know the product as much as possible even if you have never used it personally.

A tracking ID keeps you updated on how well a particular marketing campaign is doing. For example, if you promote the same Clickbank product in your blog and in a separate email campaign, you can create a tracking ID for the blog (such as “myblog”) and another for the email campaign (such as “email”). That way you can track each approach and see which one had better sales results.
Very high commissions: Most ClickBank products pay 70%+ commission. You read that right. So in that case, if you sell a $100 product, you earn $70. You might think that’s way too high to be real, but it is. They’re mainly able to do that because most of their products are digital, which means there are no “production” costs, “shipping” costs or any other costs that are usually associated with physical products, hence the high commissions.
They're newbie friendly: Some affiliate networks are strict when it comes to accepting new affiliates. They're usually scared of fraudsters who can potentially jeopardize the network's relationships with their advertisers and vendors by using shady promotional techniques. While this cautiousness is generally a good thing, it also makes it hard for new affiliates to get into those networks. How can you start taking your baby steps and experimenting with things when you're not even allowed to promote any products?
Know when (and when not) to use Viglinks and Skimlinks. If you applied to an affiliate program but were denied, you might be able to still be an affiliate for that advertiser through a secondary affiliate program like VigLink or Skimlinks. Basically, they themselves are affiliates and will split their affiliate commission with you if you put their affiliate link in your content for an advertiser. Obviously, the commission rate is lower for you in this case, so if you ever are accepted into the advertiser’s affiliate program directly, immediately switch from using VigLink / Skimlinks affiliate links to your own.
This post will lift back the curtain on affiliate marketing. We’ll first look at the semantics of affiliate programs and then move on to how you should choose which products to promote, the most effective promotion methods and finally, some of the best programs to join. By the end of this post you’ll have a clear understanding of how the best WordPress affiliate programs work – and how you can take advantage of them.
Be sure to create a unique online presence for your brand. Your site will rank better for the niche keywords you are using once more people begin to Google your brand name, and they give you a leg up over competitors who used exact-match keywords in their website name, like “best-travel-supplements.com” (which Google doesn’t treat as kindly as it does branded URLs).
Clickbank, huh… now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a while! I remember messing around with them back in 2011 when I was a newbie. Never did make any money with them, haha, but I’ve seen plenty of people who have! I’ve just never been any good at pushing the weight loss stuff, which I’m pretty sure is where most people make their money with Clickbank.
If you are an Amazon affiliate EasyAzon can help you to save time and make more money. With this plugin you can easily create any type of Amazon affiliate link (text, image, info block, call to action, and search results) right from the WordPress dashboard. This feature alone can save you a lot of time bouncing back and forth between WordPress and Amazon. You can set default controls to do things like open your links in a new window, use nofollow tags, and more.
Direct linking: This means you’ll send people directly to the vendor’s sales page. This used to work well and still does in some rare cases but most of the time, it’s not recommended to go down that route. You need to “warm up” your visitor first before sending them to the offer page. Unfortunately, because this is the lazy man’s route, a lot of people choose it.
Not too hard, right? Aside from the equipment you need, which at the beginning will be pretty minimal anyway, you’re not going to need to invest any money. It will only take a little bit of time to make great videos and start growing your following. Heck, if you’re super shy and don’t want your face on camera, you can just use a PowerPoint presentation and narrate a presentation for your audience. The only one stopping you from promoting affiliate products on YouTube is YOU!
While there are currently tens of millions of blogs worldwide, close to 60 million powered by WordPress alone, many bloggers are not yet monetizing their sites. If you're one of these bloggers, a good place to start is with affiliate marketing: directing readers to a product or service in exchange for a commission on the sale (or other action) when it occurs.
The term affiliate marketing as it applies to Youtube is the creation of video content that contains affiliate links in the video or the description of the video. An affiliate link is a link that leads directly to a product or website, that allows the viewer who clicked it to buy the product or sign up to a subscription ect. For every person that makes a purchase through your affiliate link, you can earn "commission" or a certain percentage of the profit off each sale. It might sound tricky at first, but really the affiliate link are the easiest part, it's getting people to click on them that's hard. Really the only way is to try and drive as much traffic to your videos as possible by creating quality content and promoting yourself right. Creating content that is designed for your affiliate links rather than jamming them down your audience's throats will likely get you a lot more clicks than the other way around.
Another something I discovered at the end of last year that I can’t rave about enough is Easy Product Displays. (And if, ahem, you want to use my affiliate link it’s: http://easyproductdisplays.com?ref=t2hmkr-119) It’s a service that’s about $6/month, made to help make it super-simple to code nice-looking image displays of affiliate products. It works fabulously, but the reason I REALLY love it is that even if you don’t want to use the display part, it makes it about 1000 times easier to find Amazon product links with your affiliate code already built in. I often use it just for searching for those, because it’s so much faster than Amazon itself.
Depending on the specific requirements, you might get rejected. The trick is to make sure you have at least 5-15 articles on your website and make sure your website looks good and legit. And if you get rejected for one affiliate program, try to find an email contact and ask the reasons why you were rejected. You might just need to improve some posts or to get more traffic from a specific location.
Thanks! I have a few products mixed into my blog posts, and will be adding more. I have found CB to be a mixed bag so far – but need more time to see how it pans out. Also wondering about setting up more sites to follow the funnel you set up. I was pleased to hear you mention having 3 follow ups in the responder sequence. Someone else had suggested 10! I figured by 4 or 5 you lost them anyway.
My audience is entrepreneurs, people who own their own business and want to use video to better market that business. It would make ZERO sense for me to randomly speak about a kitchen organizer and link an affiliate link to that on my channel – but – it would make #allthesense for me to include a small testimonial for a new app I’m loving for business and include an affiliate link.
"Reading Michelle's income reports each month made me realize the huge potential there is to make more money online. Even as a blogger with an established site over 8 years old, I knew that there was so much that I could learn from Michelle because she's had such incredible success! Watching her income climb each month has really motivated me to change up my affiliate strategy and be more intentional with my efforts." - Jessica Bishop, TheBudgetSavvyBride.com
Now, that is one side of Clickbank and it’s the Vendor side. So we have the vendors on one side. This is if you have a product or service or something that you want to sell, you go to Clickbank, you sign up, and you get your order forms and everything like that. The cool thing about Clickbank is that they have tens of thousands of product vendors. There is all kind of different products from, ‘how to teach your kid to walk or ride a bike, to “how to make money on the internet”. Tons and tons of digital products are on the Clickbank.
If you want to build a website about a specific topic (your niche) then using email is not to be missed. Basically, when customers read the contents in our website. They have subscribed to our newsletter (you can see this on the sidebar of our blog). Then we will send marketing email with offers, discounts and advertising other products also to their emails.
Showing the wrong price is a violation of Amazon’s terms and conditions. As you know, the price in Amazon, so it’s a good practice not to share the amount in your site. If you can maintain the update, then there’s no obligation. But, the question is how would you get your website updated especially when there’s a ton of links. Don’t risk to include the price unless you’re able to connect Amazon’s API for an instant update.
Affiliate marketing is fully a part of this advertising landscape. It’s not inherently better or worse than any other form of advertising, but you may find that the format and the side benefits of becoming an affiliate marketer are just what you need to start making money online and to eventually do the things you want to do and make a living from doing it. Getting to that point won’t be easy and it won’t happen overnight, but with enough skill and enough hard work it’s at least possible.
Obviously you shouldn't be spamming your videos everywhere, but making detailed posts/responses about your content that you think other users might find interesting. The more times your videos are shared, the more YouTube will see your video as useful and give it a boost in it's rankings. You'll also gain traffic from those shared videos, some can even be evergreen.
