Understand where people are at in the buying cycle and promote accordingly. Spend the most time sharing affiliate links where people are ready to buy. For example, you can share affiliate links on Pinterest, but most people are not on Pinterest to buy but to look. As such, focusing your affiliate marketing strategy on Pinterest might not be the best use of your time. Review posts, for example, might be better at tipping people over the line into buying.
In the blogging world it’s common to hear other bloggers talking about ways to make income. One of those ways is by using affiliate links. An affiliate link is a link with a tracking code; when a person clicks on that link and buys the product you get a commission on that purchase. Affiliate links are a great way to make passive income (see how much I make with affiliate income per month.)
Godaddy – 15% commissions and even though they used to suck, they have made significant improvements in the last few years. My site loaded in less than 1 second on their cheapest shared hosting plan and their support team is based in the US (Arizona). Still, I would go with SiteGround or WP Engine. Read my SiteGround vs. Godaddy review to see the difference.
This one's for the gamers out there.. the Nintendo Creators Program works much like any other affiliate program, whereby you receive a cut of every commission Nintendo receives from your YouTube videos, so long as those videos are Nintendo-related. It was designed for any youtuber that uses Nintendo copyrighted content in their videos, as a way to give back to the creators. The entire program is run through paypal, which may put some off, but should give you peace of mind that your transactions are safe. You have a choice between registering your entire channel, or just individual videos and the advertisement revenue share is 70% for entire channels and 60% for videos.
Zigzagpress – 50% commissions (costs $49 for a single theme which means $24.50). Zigzagpress is NOT a good affiliate. I was making a consistent $300/month with them, but this dropped to virtually 0 sales for almost an entire year. I also got a few complaints that when they rebranded, they deleted all their customer’s purchased themes and made their customers rebuy them. I used to love Zigzagpress but it seems they are not taking care of their affiliates or customers. They haven’t even paid me the $163 for the referalls I made to them this year – I will be deleting all my affiliate links + good reviews for them. I would definitely avoid them.
Affiliate marketing can be a good way to earn some money online. One of the biggest benefits is that it’s “passive income.” A website page stays online unless you stop paying your website hosting fees. New people can find your page through the search engines and click on your links to buy products. This means that once you do the work, you can potentially earn off of that work again and again.
This plugin is designed to be straightforward and easy to use for the site owner and affiliates. New affiliates spend only minutes setting up their accounts and adding PayPal commissions payment information. Pick the one which has the most relevant products for your market. For instance, if a physical product will suit your needs – Amazon is probably the way to go (people trust it the most!). Feel free to explore Linkshare, ShareASale, and CJ as well, though! If you want to be an affiliate for an information product, though, Clickbank is probably the way to go.

Make mutual connections with other bloggers by reaching out and engaging with them on social media, email, or face-to-face communication if possible. Share or comment on their social posts. Leave comments on their blogs. The key is to provide value! If you can, help with link building, guest posts contributions, or social shares. If you can show that you're a valuable resource, they may help you in the future.
Watch them. How are other content creators in your niche utilizing advertising? What types of ads do they use? What are they promoting? What do they talk about repeatedly (if you keep seeing the same affiliate product show up again and again, there’s a good chance they’re making good money from it)? If you see a product or service they talk about that jogs your memory and you can ethically promote it too, find affiliate information by the methods described above.
If you own a travel blog, why not attempt to make some money out of your love for travel writing by joining the Booking.com Affiliate Marketing Program? After signing up to the affiliate network you’ll have the choice of placing a search box, link or banner onto your website. Commission is tiered, ranging from 25% for 0 – 50 stayed bookings per month, to 40% commission for 501 or more stayed bookings per month.
Under the about tab, you can add up to 14 links. Most creators add links to their sites and social media accounts. Marketers who use landing page services, such as Leadpages and Instapage, will link to these too. Links should relate to your channel, topics, and videos to increase clicks and conversions. For instance, if you create fitness videos, direct your viewers to products and services that you use, recommend, or can benefit them.
Contact the company directly. If you use a product or service and want to recommend it but you can’t find evidence of an affiliate program, consider approaching them and asking if they are willing to set one up (maybe with your help). Highlight your audience and the value of your recommendation. Explain that an affiliate program is simply rewarding happy customers (you!) for promoting, and they don’t have to pay until a sale is made.
Amazon Affiliates typically pays between 3-5% commission for each product sold. What will really determine how much you earn however is your conversion rate. This number is based on the amount of people that watch your videos and then go on to purchase a product you're advertising. This can be as low as 1% but others have reported around 8%. It really depends on your niche and the products your advertising.
