I’ve gone through different ways to set up your own affiliate program and it really requires consideration, time, and effort to launching one. Whichever you choose, I’m absolutely sure it will help grow your business and boost your income. Although there is disagreement about using WordPress plugins or third-party products such as ShareASale, in the end, it is really up to your needs and preference.
What I’m going to do is I’m going to go over to my search results here, and I’ve pulled up all the JV emails that I’m going to get from Steve and Aidan or that I’ve gotten. When we go to the JV Launch page, we want to make sure we fill this out so we can receive all the promotional material. What I’m going to do is I’m going to click this top one here, and if I go to, “Click here for full details,” it will basically give you the strategy of what email to send out to your list and when, and it will also include swipes that you should be sending out to your list on any given day. It’ll say, “Okay, on Monday, you need to send out this email. On Tuesday, you need to send out this email,” so on and so forth.
"I have to tell you, I took the course and have implemented her strategies and am already seeing results. There are some courses I have taken and have wondered what I learned after I took it. That is not the case with this course. This is one of those courses you won’t regret taking. Michelle knows what she is talking about when it comes to affiliate marketing and she has results to prove it. She brings in over $50,000 a month in affiliate income alone. And now she is teaching us how we can do the same thing." - Crystal, Blogger, HappilyEverUncluttered.com
Their policies are strict. Be sure to read through Amazon’s affiliate program policies very carefully. Any violation of their policies is grounds for account suspension--something which could be devastating if you build an entire website or store around affiliate links. Amazon has also been known to suspend accounts without any prior notice, so tread carefully.
While there are currently tens of millions of blogs worldwide, close to 60 million powered by WordPress alone, many bloggers are not yet monetizing their sites. If you're one of these bloggers, a good place to start is with affiliate marketing: directing readers to a product or service in exchange for a commission on the sale (or other action) when it occurs.
Totally agree with your opinion on affiliate marketing. I’m in the same space myself and can tell you what it feels like to earn $1000 commissions while literally sitting on the sofa watching TV. It is absolutely mind-blowing. High-ticket commissions are what sets apart the affiliate marketers that scale their business up to six or even seven figures to the ones that only make a few thousand a month. I run a website based on digital marketing an entrepreneurship. You should check out our affiliate program – it is guaranteed to blow your mind. 🙂
If we scroll down here, you’re going to see email one is on Monday, email two is on Tuesday. This is actually this week. Email three is on Wednesday, or it looks like there’s another series of emails that say, “Coming soon.” This promotion is still going on this week. It’s actually a two-week promotion, which is one of the longest promotions I’ve ever seen. It’s still not over. I could be bringing in even more commissions because of this launch, and to add to that, guys, this is a quality product. You want to find a product in the marketplace that is in high demand, and, right now, eCommerce is in very, very high demand.
Posting your YouTube videos and affiliate links on other sites related to the products you are promoting also works. Forums are a particularly good choice since they are frequented by people looking for product information. Don’t just drop your video links in the threads. Engage in conversations with the other members to know what exactly they are looking for. This gives you a better opening to push your affiliate links and get them to click and buy.
Some people have also observed that WordPress sites seem to be favored slightly by google over static sites and those on other blogging platforms. While the jury on this is still out, and different types of site go in and out of fashion as new algorithm updates are rolled out, it makes sense that Google would give preference to the platform of choice for big and authoritative sites.
Nick Schäferhoff is an entrepreneur, online marketer, and professional blogger from Germany. He found WordPress when he needed a website for his first business and instantly fell in love. When not building websites, creating content or helping his clients improve their online business, he can most often be found at the gym, the dojo or traveling the world with his wife. If you want to get in touch with him, you can do so via Twitter or through his website.
Analytics are limited. Unlike with conversions made directly on your WordPress site, you’ll be limited in terms of what you can learn about the people making purchases through your affiliate links. While Amazon does provide you with details about clicks and sales, you won’t get deep insights into who the consumer was and what they did on your site before they got to that point that you would with Google Analytics.
Even though other hosting affiliates like WP Engine offer flat $200 commissions, SiteGround is highly respected in the WordPress community (and #1 in most Facebook polls) so you will likely have higher conversions and lower cancellations – even if you have to climb a tier. They raised the regular price but their promotional price is affordable and you can get it for 3 years.
Know when (and when not) to use Viglinks and Skimlinks. If you applied to an affiliate program but were denied, you might be able to still be an affiliate for that advertiser through a secondary affiliate program like VigLink or Skimlinks. Basically, they themselves are affiliates and will split their affiliate commission with you if you put their affiliate link in your content for an advertiser. Obviously, the commission rate is lower for you in this case, so if you ever are accepted into the advertiser’s affiliate program directly, immediately switch from using VigLink / Skimlinks affiliate links to your own.
The term affiliate marketing as it applies to Youtube is the creation of video content that contains affiliate links in the video or the description of the video. An affiliate link is a link that leads directly to a product or website, that allows the viewer who clicked it to buy the product or sign up to a subscription ect. For every person that makes a purchase through your affiliate link, you can earn "commission" or a certain percentage of the profit off each sale. It might sound tricky at first, but really the affiliate link are the easiest part, it's getting people to click on them that's hard. Really the only way is to try and drive as much traffic to your videos as possible by creating quality content and promoting yourself right. Creating content that is designed for your affiliate links rather than jamming them down your audience's throats will likely get you a lot more clicks than the other way around.
If you have limited budget, don't be afraid to use trial versions of software. I used Adobe Premier to make my YouTube intro (the trial is 30 days, it took me less than 5). There's also plenty of free software you can use too. Do you research and hustle as much as possible. When you start earning money, feel free to reinvest it into your venture and buy something with a little more quality.
