So, if you display Amazon products in a sidebar widget, product showcase table or a comparison table using AzonPress-generated Affiliate links, you won’t have to manually update them ever again. The plugin will fetch data from Amazon automatically and if a piece of product information is updated on Amazon, that will be updated in your site as well.

(Yes, even if you’re a copy / paste master.)
I have been making money online for over a year now. Not in the big time yet, still consider myself to be learning my craft. I was doing it really ineffectively (using adsense and amazon along with a t shirt affiliate deal) and driving traffic almost exclusively though facebook. Probably averaged about $800 a month over the last year, mostly because Christmas brought an absolute ton of t shirt sales)

Once you start getting a bit of traction and you're spending many hours a week doing this, that's when I'd recommend to start building affiliate links into your videos. It's the same case as making a new website- there's no point in adding ads to your page when you don't have any page views. Work on content first, then once you have a decent traffic stream, then start to work on monetization.
Even though other hosting affiliates like WP Engine offer flat $200 commissions, SiteGround is highly respected in the WordPress community (and #1 in most Facebook polls) so you will likely have higher conversions and lower cancellations – even if you have to climb a tier. They raised the regular price but their promotional price is affordable and you can get it for 3 years.
Pretty Link Lite is the free version of the Pretty Link Pro plugin that was mentioned earlier. The Lite version will meet the needs of many bloggers and marketers. With this free plugin you can easily shorten links using your own domain name and re-direct them to long and ugly affiliate links. The free version will even track the number of clicks and unique clicks of each shortened link, giving you some valuable information about how many people are clicking through on your affiliate links. You can create 307 (temporary) or 301 (permanent) re-directs, and you also have control over whether or not the links should use nofollow tags.
Who doesn't love eBay? It's a treasure trove of cheap stuff, and now you can make money from eBay without having to sell your old shoes and long-forgotten video games. By joining their affiliate program, you earn money from selecting listings that you like and sharing the links to them. The eBay partner program provides you with link generators and more to help you optimize your affiliate links. They also provide reports and analytics so that you can track how much you've earnt. The best part? Partners earn between 50-70% of the revenue.
StudioPress – StudioPress builds WordPress themes in the Genesis Framework and is my main affiliate for themes with over $8,000 in commissions. Read my StudioPress review if you haven’t heard of them but they are so legit. I average $28 per sale with less than 5% cancellation and high conversions since StudioPress is endorsed by tons of top WordPress people like Yoast and Matt Cutts. They are truly SEO-friendly WordPress themes that have top-notch coding, lightweight so they load fast, come with tons of Genesis plugins, and awesome documentation. Sell their Pro Plus all-theme package and get a $175 commission.

Not everyone is able to do this, being an affiliate is similar to being a marketer. There are people who can do meanwhile others cannot, Clickbank is not a means of making money, but more of a base to make money, acts as intermediary between vendors, affiliates and customers. You will work for yourself, find customers who would purchase the products you advertise but do nothing for Clickbank.
Hey Tiffany, how are you today? This is an excellent guide and I love all the information! It’s true many people who have blogs have no idea about affiliate marketing and it’s potential, but there is so much money to be made from affiliate marketing it’s unreal. One tip I could give is people who are building up blogs should get into affiliate marketing earlier! Great post, have a great day… thanks for the great information!

WordPress is fairly optimized right out of the box, but there are also a handful of plugins like the All in One SEO Pack and Yoast’s WordPress SEO plugin that do a great job of making your WordPress site search engine friendly. Beginners can install these plugins with their default settings and start reaping the benefits immediately and more advanced users can tweak them as required.
One of the most important strategies a blogger can participate in is creating an email list. And once you have this list of loyal readers, you should place affiliate links inside of your email content. Better yet, you should have a welcome email series that builds trust with your audience and eventually links to the products you want to promote. But don’t get spammy with your email links. Make sure to provide excellent and useful content first, then sprinkle in a few affiliate links to the main products you want to promote in later emails in the series.

I, too, have always looked at ClickBank as a secondary and even tertiary monetization source. But it can be a great sources of revenue. I linked one of my articles to a related product on CB, and without really doing promotion or anything unusual, I get a few sales a week. Mind you, the keyword(s) for the post aren’t that huge either. So, even though the traffic not huge on that post, it still manages to get some sales.
The hallmark of a good affiliate marketer is the quality of his or her content. If your web pages are riddled with spelling or grammar errors and your content doesn’t really bring anything new to the table, readers are going to click away quickly. They’re not going to click through to other pages on your site, and they’re not going to click through to the products you recommend.

Pretty Link Pro is a feature-rich plugin for creating and managing shortened links for your affiliate links. A free version of the plugin is also available, and that version will be covered later in this post. The Pro version includes a lot of features like cloaking re-direction, conversion reports, delayed re-direction, double re-direction, automated keyword replacement, split testing, and Twitter integration. Pricing starts at $37 for a single-site license.

A lot of people will recommend selecting a niche/category you’re familiar with right off the bat and browsing products inside it. Although I agree with this approach for strong reasons I’ll outline later, I do not think it should be the starting point. Simply go ahead and hit the “magnifying glass” button next to the search bar without typing anything.
Affiliate Marketer Training is a site dedicated to helping affiliate marketers at every step along the process. Whether you’re just starting out and you need to learn the terms of the business or you’re an experienced hand who wants to reach a new level, AMT has plenty of articles with basic and advanced tips on how to market yourself, how to search-engine optimize, how to write engaging blog posts, how to engage with others through social media, and much more. We may not be an actual Affiliate Marketing for Dummies website, but we still have all the information you need.

One of the most effective and most popular ways to make money online is affiliate marketing. As an affiliate marketer you will probably be managing several different websites and promoting multiple affiliate products, which can become quite cumbersome to manage. Fortunately, there are a number of excellent WordPress plugins that affiliate marketers can use to accomplish different things that will help to save time and make more money.

As for me, I ran a bloggy b-card series where I tackled everything from what to put on a business card to a giant showcase of awesome cards I received at Type A. On that showcase, I listed a few places you can buy cards and a few of those links were affiliates. Based on what I learned from this session, I went back to the other four posts and added those links there too. Since then, I’ve also created a hub page with all the posts and places to buy cards in one place.
Please note that some of the links below are affiliate links and at no additional cost to you, I may earn a commission. Know that I only recommend products, tools, services and learning resources I’ve personally used and believe are genuinely helpful, not because of the small commissions I make if you decide to purchase them. Most of all, I would never advocate for buying something that you can’t afford or that you’re not yet ready to implement.
The PointsPrizes affiliate program offers you a way to make money, without selling your soul. You can earn money through this program, simply by including referral links at the top of your video descriptions that are relevant to your audience niche. What's different about this program is that instead of paying you in clicks and commissions, they pay you for traffic. So if you direct your audience, who you know would probably be interested in the referral link you provided (known as quality traffic) PointsPrizes will pay you, simply for directing them over there, and can pay 10x the amount other affiliate programs can. As a plus, you'll also be able to offer free gift cards to your audience and they won't try to police or change your content in any way.

Signup is free and takes less than 1 minute, with instant approval. This means you can start earning straight away through your own easy-to-use dashboard. Barn2 Media provides you with links and banners, but you are free to promote their plugins in other ways, including designing your own banners. They offer 365-day return cookies, meaning you will still get paid even if the customer ends up buying later, and they pay commission on a monthly basis with no minimum payouts.

Affiliate marketing success starts with choosing the right niche. In a lot of ways, what you’re looking for is a sort of “Goldilocks” idea. You need a topic that’s broad enough that you’ll always have things to talk about, narrow enough that you can stand out from the crowd, but not so narrow that you don’t really have an audience. Additionally, you’ll need an idea that can be profitable – there needs to be some type of product that people will be interested in buying, even if that “product” is just information.

I can very well understand how it must be with you 🙂 It’s been that way for me over the years, but this time I’m already home and not having the pressure of getting too many things done in one year-end vacation here. Feels much relaxed, and unlike otherwise I’m able to keep my blog alive over the holidays too. It’s a different feeling altogether for me this time.
Whether you are going to start your affiliates with electronics or sports items is totally up to you. If you choose a small niche then it might be hard to make money out of it since the industry is already way too competitive. By selecting multiple platforms, you’re spreading the seeds all over the yard. You can hope, some plants you will get for sure even if some can’t live.
I think affiliate marketing works well for you Tom, because you write good content and refer good products regardless if you make money from it. As you said in a previous comment that you don’t get anything from yoast and write tutorials for people to learn wordpress seo. That’s how it should be. Other sites trend to list “top 10/best” of “something” and list a few pros and cons and stuff affiliate links everywhere.
Strong copy and clear call to actions: If they have a written sales page you’ll likely find that it’s very convincing and keeps pulling you in to read more. They’re often story-driven as well. The buy now button will be unmissable and the whole page will be directing your attention to it to complete the purchase. It leaves no doubt in the visitor’s mind on what should be done next.
Affiliate Disclaimer – if you sign up for SiteGround using my affiliate link I will donate a good chunk at no expense to you. This year I donated $3,000 to feed the homeless in Denver. In 2017, I donated $3,000 to American Red Cross at Hurricane Harvey. Your support helps and I genuinely appreciate it. I try to make my reviews unbiased and backed by evidence in the form of Facebook polls, tweets, and real conversations. If you don’t want to use it, here’s a non-affiliate link to SiteGround. Either way I truly believe they’re the best host and that your site will run faster/smoother… do your research on Google and Facebook groups and you’ll find most people say the same.
Review : No fluff here. Just good advice. Very actionable steps. Updating my Twitter skills and learning where Clickbank gravity scores come from was worth every dollar and minute invested on this course. If you want to learn how to finally make money with affiliate marketing TAKE THIS COURSE! You can thank me for recommending it later. – Rawslyn Ruffin
It has been over a year since we first asked this question, and even though there still aren’t any definitive answers from YouTube or Amazon, a lot has changed and there are even more examples of people intelligently leveraging affiliate links on their YouTube channels. When used correctly, affiliate links in YouTube are a fantastic way to provide even more value to your viewers as well as earn some extra affiliate revenue. In fact, a recent Quora article we found shows that oftentimes this “extra affiliate revenue” can actually be a very significant amount!
Awesome article! This is jam packed with great info. I am just starting a personal finance blog with my fiance and we were a little confused about how to start monetizing. We were initially thinking about using Google AdSense but between this post and another blog I read I am surely convinced that’s not the correct route. I’m really happy you have shared this information because it’s provided an excellent starting point for creating income.

One tip can help: On every page where you post a link mention the name of the merchant somewhere on the page. It can be as part of the referral comment, like “You can find one of these XXXX products at my partner, Amazon.com.” This allows you to search your site for the product name + the merchant’s name and find all the links in the site that need to be removed or changed. When you get to where you have hundreds of pages with affiliate links on them, you need such a system to manage your links.
If you don't know, Shopify is an e-commerce platform that allows users to set up their own e-commerce site and become an entrepreneurs quickly and easily. By spreading the word about Shopify and encouraging your audience to sign up to it (using the link you provide) you can earn an average of $58 dollars for every user that signs up using your link. Shopify provides you with 24/7 support and links to blogs, video tutorials and so on that will help to explain to your audience what Shopify is and how it works.
So, now that you know everything there is to know about how to add Amazon affiliate links to WordPress, what will you do with this information? Just save a little money on Amazon? Will you start out small and embed promotional product links into your blog content? Will you be adventurous and launch your own Amazon affiliate store? Or are you concerned about the use of too many affiliate links affecting site speed?
There are a number of different ways a blogger can drive sales through their affiliate links. The most common is text links in blog posts themselves. When writing content about a product you want to promote, place text links in the product titles to send traffic to the merchant’s website. Each merchant also has a specific cookie duration, so you can get credit for a sale 30, 60, or even 90 days after the click takes place.
The drawback is that it’s slow at first, it could take 2-3+ months to see your first sale if that is your main traffic source. It’s also tedious in the sense that it requires a lot of effort link building, especially if you’re trying to rank for highly competitive keywords. For an in-depth SEO blueprint, check out our how to rank in Google guide for beginners.
Totally agree with your opinion on affiliate marketing. I’m in the same space myself and can tell you what it feels like to earn $1000 commissions while literally sitting on the sofa watching TV. It is absolutely mind-blowing. High-ticket commissions are what sets apart the affiliate marketers that scale their business up to six or even seven figures to the ones that only make a few thousand a month. I run a website based on digital marketing an entrepreneurship. You should check out our affiliate program – it is guaranteed to blow your mind. 🙂
Very high commissions: Most ClickBank products pay 70%+ commission. You read that right. So in that case, if you sell a $100 product, you earn $70. You might think that’s way too high to be real, but it is. They’re mainly able to do that because most of their products are digital, which means there are no “production” costs, “shipping” costs or any other costs that are usually associated with physical products, hence the high commissions.
My advice for beginners – especially beginner bloggers with new sites – focus on your site content and traffic for a while, then add your Amazon links once you have a little traffic. So many beginners focus on making money from their links and sacrifice their content building in the process. Without good content and traffic you won’t make much anyways.
This adds, even more, value to the course. I want to help you with your blog so that you can increase traffic, your income, and so that you can help your followers, so what's better than this? Two Saturdays a month, there will be a group coaching session in the private Mastermind group for students in the course. It will be called "Ask Michelle Saturday." This is your time to get feedback and support from me, and you can ask any questions related to your business, course material, your affiliate strategy, blog, and so on. I will answer every question in the group coaching session.
You can choose to extend Affiliate WP’s convenience by selecting from one or more of the many add-ons offered. They give the affiliate plugin more functionality and have the ability to fully automate your affiliate marketing program. These add-ons offer tiered and lifetime commissions to affiliates, recurring referrals, one-click commission payments, and even the option to pay affiliates with store credit. If these don’t suit your needs, the plugin also features other add-ons created by third-party developers.

With the Voice theme, you also get to choose from a number of color skins, header configuration modes, custom sidebar and widget layouts, and multiple pagination options. The theme also is also built to support WooCommerce and bbPress right out of the box, making it easy to add online store and discussion board functionality to your website if needed.
SEMrush – 40% recurring commission for SEMrush subscription sales. That means $40 – $160/month for each person who continues their subscription when they sign up with your affiliate (not bad). This is one of the top rated SEO tools on the market and provides you with a large amount of data about keywords, backlinks, authority, referring domains, and more.
Most of the stuff I see sold on the report is not stuff I’ve recommended. What this has taught me is that you want people to click on an Amazon link because you have a high chance that they will buy something within the next 24 hours that will get credited to you. So your goal is for people to click on your links and not necessarily to buy what you’re recommending.
While affiliate networks (like Shareasale) are suited rather for affiliates with no particular strategy, I’d suggest you choosing SaaS affiliate programs (software as a service) if you want to work independently on a large scale. SaaS affiliate programs are usually much higher paying, due to the value of software they offer. While it may take a bit more effort to find a customer for B2B-oriented software, revenues from closed deals are incomparable. What’s even more enticing, some of SaaS affiliate programs sell monthly recurring licenses and - therefore - offer fixed recurring commissions!
In 2007, life was pretty good for Pat Flynn. He was a senior drafter in a Bay Area architecture firm, a job that he loved. When the economy slowed in 2008, Pat was laid off and forced to think of another way to make a living. He took his experience of studying for the LEED – Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design – and launched a blog (GreenExamAcademy.com) that shared his study notes. This lead Pat to publish his first e-book, which resulted in $8,000 of income during its first month. Since then Pat has launched the Smart Passive Income Blog and the popular Smart Passive Podcast.
Here we’ll explain how to get affiliate links for the respective products while you’re going to advertise. In exactly two ways you can do that. The first one is traditional and time-requiring while the latter one is real convenient and easy for all. However, your site need to be in WordPress for the second process although the first method is applicable to all medium.

The basic strategy is this: Post interesting content consistently with relevant hashtags. Use a service like Hashtagify for hashtag ideas. Follow users in your niche and engage with their posts. I also know a couple of people who grew their Instagram accounts quickly solely depending on shoutouts from influencers. You can use a service like ShoutCart for that or contact influencers directly (most of them list their email addresses in their bios).

Amazon Affiliates typically pays between 3-5% commission for each product sold. What will really determine how much you earn however is your conversion rate. This number is based on the amount of people that watch your videos and then go on to purchase a product you're advertising. This can be as low as 1% but others have reported around 8%. It really depends on your niche and the products your advertising.
