Affiliate marketing can be a good way to earn some money online. One of the biggest benefits is that it’s “passive income.” A website page stays online unless you stop paying your website hosting fees. New people can find your page through the search engines and click on your links to buy products. This means that once you do the work, you can potentially earn off of that work again and again.
The one thing to be aware of with WordPress Amazon affiliate plugins is that you don’t want to use one that offers link cloaking. This is a method used to protect affiliates from a threat known as affiliate link hijacking. However, Amazon expressly forbids the cloaking of their links, so you’ll want to avoid plugins that do that or always be sure to disable that functionality if they give you the option.

You get to hand-pick what you promote. Unlike display ad systems that typically choose which brands serve ads on your WordPress site, you have total control over this with Amazon affiliate links. You’ll never have to worry about a competitor’s link showing up on your site and the link will always be relevant to the content that it appears within or beside--which will improve its chances of getting clicked.

That’s right, although you might see YouTubers using much nicer (and expensive equipment) such as Pat Flynn, this is not a requirement. In fact, we highly recommend you use what you have first to decide if using YouTube for affiliate marketing is a strategy you like. If not, then you won’t have wasted any money. As with everything else, I don’t recommend you put time and effort into anything unless you actually enjoy it. Play to your strengths! If it is something you enjoy, though, then you can make an informed decision on what equipment you might want to upgrade to eventually.
The downside is sales. You actually have to make sales to get paid. So if you go out there and you’re like, “I want to get paid $27 anytime someone buys this diet book” You actually have to get people to buy it. Now in CPA affiliate marketing, this isn’t always the case. Sometimes you can get paid just for people filling out forms, download things, call a phone number, we get paid. Sometimes it’s easier “to go with CPA affiliate marketing. So that’s one of the downsides of Clickbank.
This is EXACTLY why I love you so! {dramatic, but sorta true} I’ve learned so much from you, Mel. I can’t even tell you how much you’ve taught me in the past year {tomorrow is my one year blogiversary!} and I’m so thankful. I’ve been in online marketing for about 6 years now, but it feels like the bloggy marketing world is slightly different, which is why I love your blogs so much. You break things down so that marketers, like myself, can learn more than what they think they know.
"I started my blog in March 2015 and didn't even know what affiliate marketing meant. And....I didn't do much about it. I think my largest month was around $500 last year and then died down to sometimes only a few bucks per month. It wasn't my focus, but I didn't realize I was leaving money on the table, meaning I was losing money every month! I decided to enroll in Michelle's course, and I quickly noticed I didn't know a thing when it came to true Affiliate Marketing! No wonder it just 'wasn't working for me'...
When you include an affiliate link in your description be sure to say somewhere that it is an affiliate link. This can be in the form of a disclaimer at the bottom of your video description or as a parenthetical notation right next to the link. Also be sure to say what product it is for. Nobody likes being tricked into landing on iTunes or Amazon when they think they are going to an artist’s fan page or the ultimate zombie survival blog.
This course in particular will help you send unlimited traffic to your CB links, build a huge list that you can market to, pick out the best most profitable offers and put 90% of your online earning system on auto pilot. Speaking about the program, participant Gary Horton feels that “The instructor is excellent. His method is simple to understand and affordable to implement.”
This means that you have the opportunity to be honest, or at least as honest as you choose to be. You can also choose to make a website about something that’s only related to the companies you market for, something that will bring in people interested in the advertised products but which doesn’t rate or review merchandise. As such, an Affiliate Marketing for Dummies book would also include more than a few chapters on how to create good online content.

The basic strategy is this: Post interesting content consistently with relevant hashtags. Use a service like Hashtagify for hashtag ideas. Follow users in your niche and engage with their posts. I also know a couple of people who grew their Instagram accounts quickly solely depending on shoutouts from influencers. You can use a service like ShoutCart for that or contact influencers directly (most of them list their email addresses in their bios).

I've read that on the average it takes about a couple hours of daily dedication for a month until you see true success. The caveat is take into account risk vs reward. You'll learn of free online services you can use and subscription services that offer paid incentives in these videos. What I like is that you don't necessarily need to use paid services to start. You'll use search engines, social media, and Youtube to reap your rewards. Like all businesses there is a learning curve so one should be aware that if your not careful in following the steps outlined here you could loose your initial investment. Which if you go into it with a small amount at risk the experience alone will make up for it when you fix your mistakes and go at it again. So re-watch the videos until you get it and take plenty of notes!
While you can add these income generating affiliate links to any WordPress website and theme, choosing a theme that has been created especially for this purpose has many advantages. One common feature of these affiliate WordPress themes is that they make it very easy to publish professional looking reviews. These reviews can highlight the best and worst aspects of each item, along with other useful features such as product comparisons, star ratings, video and images galleries, and lots more.
Folks with Internet and marketing savvy will probably find this book informative and useful. It’s about a relatively new way to make money, through Affiliate Marketing, if one has the motivation and proper skill set. Affiliate Marketing is Internet-based pay for performance advertising where the purchaser pays only when advertising effects are measurable. The work is done under contract by marketing affiliates who get paid when their advertising works. Affiliate Marketing can be thought of in terms of four elements: merchant, a network, affiliates, and customers. An early example of such marketing was an Amazon program which allowed associates to put links on books which when clicked and purchased paid a commission to the affiliates. This book describes Affiliate Marketing in detail, and contains chapters on how to start an Affiliate Marketing business, tips on how to earn money as an affiliate, compensation methods, mistakes to avoid, and advantages and ... full review
Will my target audience realistically buy this now, or at a different time? Be sensitive to sales cycles and seasons. Maybe you should avoid holidays (when people are away from their computers, like July 4 in the U.S.) or maybe you should target holidays (like the day after Thanksgiving), but know the difference. Again, know your audience. Plan your content accordingly.
I've learned so much with this course! KC Tan is an excellent instructor. He covers all the bases. Also, his facebook group and email list have both been a great value for me. I've made money using this method, and I'm hoping to start making even more by learning list building details in another of his courses that I just started. So glad I came across his courses.
Bloggers can use affiliate links in a number of ways. Banner ads above, below, and throughout your blog are a common method of affiliate marketing. However, you’re a writer, so the most natural way for you to promote a product is through your words. As you write about certain brands or products, you’ll link back to the merchant’s website for that particular item with contextual text links. The link will be traced by an affiliate marketing program, and when the online user makes a purchase or completes the conversion, you get a commission based on the cookie duration - usually 30-90 days. Simple, right?

Affiliate marketing software simplifies and amplifies word of mouth for your product. Building a tribe of affiliates allows you to tap into their traffic, their sources and their customers. They wouldn’t be an affiliate if they didn’t believe in your product. They know promoting a product affects their reputation. And they’re not going to risk the rep on a so-so product.

HostGator – $50 – $125 per sale (same tier program as SiteGround) but HostGator is TERRIBLE and the reviews show it so conversions are lower. You can generate custom coupon codes which is good if you’re creating videos and makes it easier for people to type the code rather than click a link (YouTube prohibits affiliate links), which can generate even more commissions. However I’ve talked to a few other HostGator affiliates who said they made nothing because people do their research and learn they are definitely not the best choice.
Website owners and bloggers who make money from affiliate marketing must clearly disclose that you earn a commission from the links on the page as part of the Federal Trade Commission’s disclosure requirements. While the FTC’s jurisdiction is limited to the United States, it is good practice to be clear and transparent to your website visitors. Doing so will actually help enhance your recommendation and increase website visitors’ trust in you. I recommend that you take the time to also read these articles:

Amazon launched back in 1994 and, two short years later, they developed their Amazon Associates program. In so doing, Amazon was able to increase exposure to their marketplace by enabling web developers and site owners to work as evangelists for their products. It helped drive more traffic to Amazon while giving these business-minded individuals the opportunity to generate more revenue for their own sites and businesses.

Another downside of Clickbank is that you get a refund. Clickbank has a refund policy that is approximately like 60 days, no questions asked. You ask for a refund and you get it. This affects your sales. For people starting out, if you’re paying for traffic, you’ve got to factor in the refund rate. You need to factor in maybe 10 to 20% just in case you get refunds. That’s another downside.

Video Editing Software. There are lots of different video editing software programs on the market these days, but if you're just starting out, there's nothing wrong with using good old free Windows Movie Maker. It's fine for simple editing, voice over and making quality videos. If you want something with a few more bells and whistles, you can consider getting a premium product such as Sony Vegas or Adobe Premier.
