The hallmark of a good affiliate marketer is the quality of his or her content. If your web pages are riddled with spelling or grammar errors and your content doesn’t really bring anything new to the table, readers are going to click away quickly. They’re not going to click through to other pages on your site, and they’re not going to click through to the products you recommend.
It's highly unlikely for anyone in Nigeria or any other third world county to receive commission cheques by post from CB or any other affiliate product source. Most of the foreign post will be opened and any cheques will be presented for payment. The bank tellers who are in on the deals will cash the payment for the presenter - usually post office staff.
He makes a lot of money. He generally makes around 100,000 dollars (approx. 70 lakhs in Indian rupees) every single month. He does this without selling hard. He never spam your email inbox with lots of sales pitches. You can learn a lot how he sells by spending some time on analysing his blog, design, content etc. The blog is a goldmine for all the affiliate marketer beginners who want to make passive income online.
The only downfall is you can only use an affiliate link on the Freelancer homepage. So instead of linking to someone’s profile directly, you will need to tell people to sign up through the homepage (using your affiliate link) then search the freelancer’s username. But if you show their portfolio on your website like I do (these WordPress speed projects), people will do it.
Bloggers can use affiliate links in a number of ways. Banner ads above, below, and throughout your blog are a common method of affiliate marketing. However, you’re a writer, so the most natural way for you to promote a product is through your words. As you write about certain brands or products, you’ll link back to the merchant’s website for that particular item with contextual text links. The link will be traced by an affiliate marketing program, and when the online user makes a purchase or completes the conversion, you get a commission based on the cookie duration - usually 30-90 days. Simple, right?
The product comparison tables you can add to your posts and pages are highly recommended for anyone publishing reviews. These tables make it very easy for your visitors to see the different variations and options on offer, without leaving your site and going elsewhere. This is great as it can help prevent you from missing out on those vital last click referrals.
During this meeting, tell the merchant how much you enjoy promoting their product, ask them about their highest converting landing pages, and see what commission bumps you could expect to receive to promote them more on your site. This simple conversation could result in a commission bump resulting in getting 2x more revenue from each sale that you create for them.
I have posts that are heavily linked to Amazon and some that aren’t to keep things balanced out. My heavily linked posts are product guides or stuff I was searching for my kids. Some examples are: Non-toxic high chair, 20 non-toxic teething toys, and Gift for 2-3 year olds. My blog is “green” so a lot of my posts are about non-toxic products since this is what I personally look for.

Liberty Classroom is a site focused on providing courses related to history and economics. If you write a blog related to such subjects you may want to join the Liberty Classroom affiliate marketing program and earn 50% commissions by promoting the site. When someone subscribes to Liberty Classroom via the affiliate link put on your blog, and stays subscribed beyond the refund period, you will earn 50% of the subscription fee.
I’m just starting at Clickbank, so I’m a total newbie, but if I want to follow this strategy can I do it promoting just one product, for example, Category>Health & Fitness —> X product. Then, should i start a blog or something like that where i can talk about things related to the product subject? if so, do i have to start making entries about this recurrently? or I can opt for just making an article with a free ebook in exchange to user’s e-mails and follow the process?
The affiliate program provides a one-time high signup bonus. The amount of this depends on the plan the referral signs up for: $50 for Starter, $100 for Pro, $150 for Business 1-4, $500 for Enterprise level plans. On top of that, there’s a monthly recurring commission of 10%. On the custom affiliate dashboard affiliates can track page-views, subscriptions, and payments.
Godaddy – 15% commissions and even though they used to suck, they have made significant improvements in the last few years. My site loaded in less than 1 second on their cheapest shared hosting plan and their support team is based in the US (Arizona). Still, I would go with SiteGround or WP Engine. Read my SiteGround vs. Godaddy review to see the difference.
HostGator – $50 – $125 per sale (same tier program as SiteGround) but HostGator is TERRIBLE and the reviews show it so conversions are lower. You can generate custom coupon codes which is good if you’re creating videos and makes it easier for people to type the code rather than click a link (YouTube prohibits affiliate links), which can generate even more commissions. However I’ve talked to a few other HostGator affiliates who said they made nothing because people do their research and learn they are definitely not the best choice.
The drawback is that it’s slow at first, it could take 2-3+ months to see your first sale if that is your main traffic source. It’s also tedious in the sense that it requires a lot of effort link building, especially if you’re trying to rank for highly competitive keywords. For an in-depth SEO blueprint, check out our how to rank in Google guide for beginners.
Looking to build a profitable affiliate website? Or, do you already have an affiliate website that you want to optimize to boost revenue? If you don’t have the skills to build yourself a top-notch site or design compelling graphics, invest in a quality designer and copywriter to help you get your project off the ground. They’ll be able to help you set up your business for successful conversion. After all, if you’re going to put the time into starting a new venture, don’t you want to succeed?
Promoting and marketing to people is easiest when you’re promoting products or services that you can get excited about. Find an affiliate program within a market you’re most interested in or passionate about, sign up, pick products you’re familiar with (whether by personal experience or lots of knowledge gained by reading reviews by others within the community), and go to town! It’s easy to get others excited about the product because you’re excited about it too, and when you have that much passion about something, it draws people in. Don’t be afraid to tell them how you feel about the product; they are there to get as much information as possible so they can make an informed decision. Tell them what you like about it. If you’ve been using it for a while, tell them why you’ll continue to purchase it. The key here, and with any successful marketing strategy, is to tell them about the product, not telling them to buy it. Be honest, give them as much information as possible, and let them make the decision on their own. After that, you can watch the commission you’ve earned fly in.

To make a decent amount of affiliate money, you need to go beyond affiliate dummy guides. You’ll need a lot of visitors to your site, and you’ll need a good way to interact with those visitors. That’s when the process starts to get a lot harder. So, on this post I will give some tips and tricks that you can start implementing and make all this process a lot easier.

The researchers next investigated the text of content with affiliate links and analyzed whether they made any disclosures about their economics to users. Among content that had affiliate links, 10.49% of YouTube videos and 7.03% of pins on Pinterest had disclosures. Worse, the disclosure language recommended by the FTC was only included on roughly 2% of affiliated content across the two platforms.
Lander > Offer: This is a much better approach than the above. A lander or landing page is a web page that you create and that acts as a middleman between the offer and the visitor. This could be a review of the offer, a video, an article…etc. The visitor would land on it, consume it and then click a link and get redirected to the offer. Warren Wheeler’s case study on AMNinajs.com uses a variation of this funnel.
The rest of the layout of theme gives your deals plenty of room to breathe, while also displaying a good selection of links to the other offers you are promoting. Another nice feature of the CouponXL theme is that your visitors can sign up and start submitting their own deals. This is great, as enabling this feature can really help your website grow organically, as more content is added. You also have the option of charging your visitors a fee for making use of this service, giving you another way to monetize your site.
As an affiliate, all you have to do is sign up for a ClickBank affiliate account and then start browsing their marketplace which lists all the available products from their partner vendors. Once you find a good product (we’ll get into that in a moment), ClickBank will give you a unique “affiliate link” that points to the vendor’s sales page. All you have to do then is make people buy through that link. You earn a commission for any sale made through your affiliate links.
As for me, I ran a bloggy b-card series where I tackled everything from what to put on a business card to a giant showcase of awesome cards I received at Type A. On that showcase, I listed a few places you can buy cards and a few of those links were affiliates. Based on what I learned from this session, I went back to the other four posts and added those links there too. Since then, I’ve also created a hub page with all the posts and places to buy cards in one place.
Hey Guys! JV here. I have a passion for making money online and sharing my knowledge with others that want to do the same. I've been an affiliate marketer since 2007! I work from home and can't wait to get out of bed in the morning to start another exciting, profitable day! It is awesome to do something that you are passionate about everyday! In full disclosure, it is safe to assume that I am an affiliate for products that I recommend. I will make a commission if you buy through my link. You will not pay more when buying through my link. In fact, oftentimes I have negotiated a lower price (or bonuses) for my readers than you will find anywhere else online. Also, when you buy through my link, it allows me to continue to provide you with tons of FREE valuable information through my blog!
Thanks for the great article. If i’m a manufacture/seller and want hire affiliate to promote our product, which are the most effective ways to do so? To be more specific, we’re a start-up selling glass vessel sinks and high end kitchen sinks/faucets(www.arsumo.com).We’d like to give high commission rates for marketers to sell our product (10+%). Our product quality is great and we sell on wayfair and overstock currently but like to grow our own marketing channel. Thank you for your advise! I’m also considering to take your class to dive deeper into the marketer world.
Not only does TeslaThemes offer a substantial 50% commission for every sale, but you also earn 15% commission from any sales generated by affiliates you recruit to the program yourself. This second tier makes it one of the best WordPress affiliate programs in terms of generating passive income. Top-end themes are at a slightly lower price point than its competitors, but at 50% you still stand to make $99.50 per commission on top-end sales.
I got involved in the Amazon Affiliate program several years ago and never made money on it. In the past couple of months, I have purchased any number of so called ebooks on the subject. Much to my dismay, I sat down with my tablet and note pad to read through each of these books and take down key ideas that I could use. These so called books took 15 to 30 minutes to read through and I came away with a blank note pad--no ideas worth jotting down. In fact, I came away thinking that these guys should write an ebook titled "How to Write an Ebook in 1/2 Hour or Less" because that looks like the amount of time and care they took on these so ... full review
Taking part in affiliate marketing will force you to examine your blog’s conversion rates. Let’s say you are promoting a specific product via affiliate links on a landing page. If you currently get 1,000 visits/month at a 3% conversion rate, you have 30 referrals. To get to 60 referrals, you either have to get 1,000 more visitors to the page with blogging, SEO efforts, paid traffic or social media marketing. Or you could simply increase the conversion rate to 6%.

MyThemeShop – 55% commissions on the fastest loading themes on the market. $48 commissions for a single theme, $244 for a membership. They also have plugins – I recently switched rich snippets plugins to their WP Review Pro and promote that now. They also have a a two-tier program where you get 10% if you refer other affiliates and they make a sale.
ClickBank’s journey started when founders Tim and Eileen Barber observed that the rapid growth of the Internet was creating an explosion of websites and digital content. They recognized that the explosive growth of the Internet would make it increasingly difficult for consumers to be able to locate the products and services they needed online. Since those embryonic days, ClickBank has grown into a top 100 internet retailer and worldwide leader in digital ecommerce, processing over 30,000 digital sales each day, improving the lives of over 200 million customers and working with more than 6 million entrepreneurs in 190 countries around the globe.
Another downside of Clickbank is that you get a refund. Clickbank has a refund policy that is approximately like 60 days, no questions asked. You ask for a refund and you get it. This affects your sales. For people starting out, if you’re paying for traffic, you’ve got to factor in the refund rate. You need to factor in maybe 10 to 20% just in case you get refunds. That’s another downside.
"If an individual is looking to monetize their blog, I would make a strong case for affiliate marketing as the best avenue for doing so," says Josh Waldron, founder of creative design firm Studio JWAL LLC. "Blogs with quality content attract loyal readers. Since readers benefit from the content offered, they grow to trust the authors of that content over time. Consequently, an author's blog posts are a logical place to promote relevant products and services without compromising the integrity of the content."
I just finished reading Kevin Ulaner's book and I am definitely impressed. I've been studying affiliate marketing through various resources and this book clicked on the light. Very easy to read, great layout from how to get started, what to look for, and how to implement the ideas. I was impressed with the fact that I finally got how to log into Amazon and get my affiliate account up and running, where and what to research for niche ideas and organic research and content building...This is definitely the book to get when you're first starting out to help you understand the process of affiliate marketing. So get your pen and highlighter out and use this great resource to get you started on the right track for creating your affiliate marketing goals.

If you are an Amazon affiliate EasyAzon can help you to save time and make more money. With this plugin you can easily create any type of Amazon affiliate link (text, image, info block, call to action, and search results) right from the WordPress dashboard. This feature alone can save you a lot of time bouncing back and forth between WordPress and Amazon. You can set default controls to do things like open your links in a new window, use nofollow tags, and more.

I absolutely see the value in affiliate sales (and Pay Flynn is one of the masters at doing this authentically and openly), but I got really turned off it when I saw a lot of bloggers I read and respect writing junky “How to set up a blog” posts that didn’t seem relevant to their audiences purely so that the could get the sweet Bluehost commissions in.
They are usually the final element of the whole strategy, focused on providing an in-depth explanation of a problem and suggesting ways to solve it. Affiliate marketing professionals call it: a presale content. This is what you should focus your efforts on. Make your content as genuine and insightful as possible and then use various promo channels and techniques to promote it.
Hey Arthur, glad you like the site! I don’t think bloggers would be against giving free stuff instead of asking money for it. Squeeze pages work fine. But I’d still recommend you build your own site and own platform, its just better in the long run. The way you do it is you create a free post (like this one) with free downloads inside then drive traffic to it. Everyone is happy to link to free info then you can retarget people without too much trouble.
One of the most popular affiliate programs is Amazon affiliates. It is very easy to sign up and you can start using it on your site right away. I set up my Amazon affiliate account around the same time I launched my blog. I didn’t make money the first year, but as my posts starting gaining views and better spots on google results, my affiliate income started increasing.

Great tips! Since I just started blogging in January I am still really just getting my toes wet in affiliates. However, I did notice that pictures and real life demonstrations of the product really help. For instance, I have several food posts where I talk about my favorite cook books and show what I have cooked out of them, and then included amazon links, sure enough I sold a few cook books.

An Amazon Associates account. This is your affiliate network that will give you the products to promote on your videos. Anyone is allowed to sign up, but there is a review process. I was approved almost immediately, but it can take a couple of days sometimes. You probably don't need to worry about this just yet; without any video content, you have nowhere to place adverts on. If you don't want to use Amazon, check out these other affiliate networks too.
